The Silent Night Chapel stands at the location where St. Nikola Church once stood. Financed entirely through donations, it was finally consecrated in 1937 after 12 years of construction.

The modest, intentionally simple chapel is visited by guests from around the world every year. It is precisely its simplicity that makes it appear so lovely.

What visitors from all over the world say

Well-made museum with a nice little shop – I liked the opportunity to watch films and hear different interpretations. There is also a karaoke box for fans of their own voice.

We visited the museum shop today and immediately felt very comfortable.

An absolutely nice, friendly lady helped us. You search in vain for something like this in other museum shops.

Thank you

Customer Reviews

Very beautiful and very well-made museum. It tells the story of Joseph Mohr, the boatman, and very vividly depicts the origin and worldwide spread of “Silent Night” and the general political developments.

Very helpful staff with great recommendations. We visited by bicycle. We were told a lot about the history of Silent Night and given good tips about the region. Best regards from Erlangen.
