Shiffer.Stadt.Laufen&Oberndorf
The cities of Laufen and Oberndorf have jointly created the augmented reality themed trail “Schiffer.Stadt.Laufen&Oberndorf” (Boatmen.City.Laufen&Oberndorf). The three keywords Schiffer.Stadt.Laufen&Oberndorf are emphasized and illustrate the urban history of Laufen and Oberndorf.
Augmented Reality refers to the display of 2D and 3D views which are projected into the real world.
The circular trail leads through the cities of Laufen and Oberndorf, along the Salzach River with views of the respective opposite city. The first information stele, and thus the beginning of the themed trail, is located on the Laufen side (Marienplatz) facing Oberndorf.
With the help of modern animations and historical views, which have been implemented at various stations, the cities’ history becomes more vivid and comprehensible for both young and old. The themed trail extends along the Salzach River bend. This is a popular walking route which is now enriched by an incomparable attraction. Each of the seven information boards features a QR code, which allows visitors to embark on a journey to better understand the historical story between the cities of Laufen and Oberndorf.
Free WiFi is provided throughout the entire themed trail.
How does the themed trail work?
A QR code is displayed on each of the information steles. By scanning the QR code, it’s possible to make the history “visible” through modern animation. Using 2D and 3D views, historical views from the past could be reconstructed, making the history more experiential and “alive.”
The two example photos show how the animation ultimately appears on the phone.
The augmented reality themed trail “Schiffer.Stadt.Laufen&Oberndorf” can be explored at any time during a pleasant walk around the Salzach River bend and offers fascinating information.
